Our People:

John-Paul Nobrega

J-P is a Chartered Accountant with over 17 years experience. He completed his articles with PWC before moving to SARS LBC where he studied and completed a HDipTax diploma.

He gained extensive experience from SARS with four years spent focusing on all banking tax related issues including structured finance, corporate finance and project finance deals. A number of years were also spent focusing on writing, amending and making proposals to taxation laws and taxation opinions for the SARS organisation. In addition, he completed a number of special projects for the Comissioner and Minister of Finance. Amongst his list of achievements included him winning SARS' "Employee of the Year Award“ in 2011. J-P was head hunted to form and lead the finance department in a renewable energy company reporting directly to the CEO thereof. He is the founder of JP Chartered Accountants.

Karen Andrews

Karen has been in the accounting field since 1994. She was responsible for importing, managing and distributing stock in various industries and has successfully turned several lossmaking businesses into profitable companies.

She is proficient in Pastel, Pastel Payroll including all necessary PAYE, VAT, UIF submissions to SARS. Karen has extensive experience in dealing with SARS Officials, preparing, processing and reviewing management accounts.

Maria Nicolaou

Maria has a B.Comm Intraprenerial degree from UJ, a National Diploma in Financial Accounting from the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) and a B.Comm Honours degree in Business Management from Unisa.

Maria has been in the business, taxation and accounting field for the past eight years and has experience in problem solving, business analysis, the preparation, processing and reviewing of Annual Financial Statements including all statutory returns.

Shireen Horak

Shireen achieved a B Comm Degree in Accounting (Damelin) and is a registered Professional Accountant with The South African Institute of Professional Accountants since 2016. She has been in the accounting and taxation field for 14 years and is a Senior Consultant to JP Chartered Accountants.

Shireen is skilled in the preparation, processing and reviewing of management accounts, Annual Financial Statements and all necessary statutory returns. She is proficient in Pastel Accounting, Pastel Payroll and CaseWare.
